Information in the poker world
Some hundred years ago, poker was still a fairly small game, with poker rules that were simple. At that time, there weren’t many variations of the game, and not everybody knew how to play it, or even that it existed. Today, things are radically different.
Poker is one of the biggest and most well-known games in the world, it has millions of supporters and people are making – and losing – fortunes from it.
No wonder the information in the poker world is so well structured. There are hundreds of discussions about poker strategies going on in forums, magazines and at poker tables this very minute. A poker player 2009 is well aware of his competition, the rules, what tricks he should and should not use, his odds and his techniques. To us, this is an intriguing development, and we are fairly certain that if a player of today were to come up against a player from, say, the 18th century, he would win.
There are even poker radio stations today, there are hand books, there are online poker chat rooms, seminars, convents… For someone who is interested in poker there is a massive source of information to get hold of.
This might sound a bit off-putting, but we think that it should be regarded as inspiring, and promising. Since poker is such a fun game, it is only a positive thing that it has so many fans. No level is too high or too low, there is always a worthy opponent waiting, no matter which part of the world you are visiting. Maybe most of all in Las Vegas, so that would be the place to turn if you are high on the game.
Regardless, we are happy to see how poker has been spread and how well the players have organised themselves.
